Increasingly yes. Top SaaS companies (Stripe, Figma, Notion, Atlassian) and growth-stage startups have formal IC PM paths. Compensation at principal level is often comparable to director. Pick companies that genuinely value individual-contributor leadership — the path is real there, theoretical elsewhere.
